Young entrepreneur Iddris Sandu has taken his Spatial Labs brand to the next level. The Accra-born multitasker has been interested in hi-tech from a young age, and later on dabbled as a technological design consultant and engineer at a string of leading U.S. companies. Sandu’s Spatial Lab brand, founded only in 2019, aims to simplify and enhance people’s lives by harmonising the digital and physical worlds. And now, the brand has released its first ever fashion collection, dubbed Core, which coincided with the global launch of the Spatial Labs website and opening of its flagship store in the Culver City area of Los Angeles. The brand has secured a unit at Platform, an intimate, open-air shopping centre with shops of a curated range of independent brands.
Occupying ground floor unit, the store has been designed by Spatial Labs in-house design team and features a clean, understated design and open plan configuration which not only allows easy access, but also the nifty merchandise to pop. After purchasing a Core garment, shoppers tap it with their smartphone to create an account and design their space, thanks to the embedded Circle software. From there, they connect and share their space when another user taps on their smart chip to join their circle. Each Core garment is embedded with smart chip technology, allowing shoppers to personalise their clothing by linking it to digital journals focused on in-person interaction and intentional sharing. © superfuture
