Similar to affiliated eyewear brand Gentle Monster, Tamburins resonates extremely well with Millennial and Gen Z demographics both at home base Seoul and far beyond. Whereas the first has quickly rolled out a retail network, the cosmetics brand initially opened branded retail spaces on home turf, but only gradually expanded to markets with compatible sensibilities. And now, following the opening of stores in Tokyo and Osaka, Tamburins has inaugurated its first standalone store in China. Mind you, two shop-in-shops previously opened at Gentle Monster’s HAUS NOWHERE flagship stores in Shanghai and Shenzhen. The flagship store occupies a standalone building on Shaanxi Bei Lu, which was home to a pop-up store dedicated to its car fragrance earlier this year.
Needless to say, the three-storey retail space has obviously been fully revamped by its in-house design team in Seoul. The façade, dipped in a striking light purple and white colour scheme, signals a highly evocative, botany-inspired design theme from afar. The latter isn’t accidental as Tamburins only recently launched Evening Glow, its first rose fragrance line. As such, the ground floor, with a matching light purple backdrop, sees an infusion of decorative rose elements, notably stems and thorns, and unsurprisingly, it’s here where the fragrance products are presented, including solid balm, hand cream, and lipstick. The second floor is used as a display area, while on the top floor, the full range of Tamburins products can be found. © superfuture
