Australian cycling wear brand MAAP continues its global retail expansion and has now planted a flag in leafy Da’an area of Taipei. The so-called MAAP LaB Taipei, situated just off bustling Dunhua Bei Lu, occupies a unit on the ground floor of a multi-storey red brick residential building, and rubs shoulders with retail spaces of other leading brands and independent boutiques, such as Nike, Dickies, IMMENSE, Converse and Veil. The interior design of MAAP LaB Taipei, created by Melbourne-based practice Clare Cousins Architects, sees a backdrop in soft blue – mind you, even the exposed ceiling with its myriad of utility pipes is dipped in that very same hue – paired with flooring of large concrete tiles.

Furnishings and fixtures are few and simple, comprising an elongated metal sales counter, which ties in with a matching storage cabinet, wall panels, sleek metal shelving, and wall-mounted display racks and hooks. A large bright blue display table and matching clothing display add a vibrant element to the setting. A large modular sofa is paired with circular steel side table, and accommodates both shoppers and cyclists gathering here to engage in a rotation of events which wille celebrate the culture, art, and innovation of the cycling sport. The newly opened MAAP LaB Taipei stocks the brand’s full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, and all collaborative items. © superfuture
