JTCPL Designs unveiled a sustainable interior design project for DataVolt in Mumbai, inspired by the Silk Route and featuring a blend of culture, sustainability, and modern technology.

JTCPL Designs has recently unveiled a remarkable interior design and build project for DataVolt, a global leader in next-generation data centre solutions. Headquartered in Riyadh, with offices in Dubai, California, Tashkent, and now Mumbai, DataVolt’s newest facility is located within the prestigious Godrej Two campus. Renowned for its Japanese-inspired landscaping, green plazas, retail courts, and sustainability-focused amenities, Godrej Two is IGBC Platinum and WELL Gold-certified, making it the perfect setting for this ambitious project.

The design team at JTCPL Designs approached the project with a vision inspired by the ancient Silk Route, encapsulated in the concept “Pathway to Sustainability.” This theme reflects the rich exchange of culture and ideas while embracing environmental consciousness. The office layout embodies this philosophy, with pathways designed to evoke the sense of interconnected routes. Visitors are welcomed into a warm and functional reception area, complemented by adjacent meeting rooms, cloakrooms, and utility spaces. The facility seamlessly integrates formal and informal workspaces, collaborative zones, a community area, ideation pods, and a uniquely designed cafeteria that transforms into a large town hall through sliding folding partitions.

To ensure the highest standards of comfort and productivity, workstations were designed based on The Healthy Office principles authored by Ninad Tipnis. These included innovative linear and three-way configurations that combine ergonomic efficiency with aesthetic appeal. Materials were meticulously selected to adhere to global sustainability standards while establishing a connection to DataVolt’s international identity. Local elements were creatively showcased in informal spaces, enhancing the distinctiveness of the design.

The aesthetic is unified through a neutral palette of beige and grey, accented with a spectrum of blues derived from DataVolt’s logo, incorporated into soft furnishings and bespoke furniture. Free-flowing forms, inspired by the concept, are reflected in handcrafted elements such as the reception desk and seating arrangements. A thoughtful mix of floating and open ceiling concepts was employed to optimise acoustics in work and meeting areas while creating a sense of openness in movement spaces. Lighting was carefully planned using Dialux simulations to ensure minimal glare, with deep-recessed fittings for a refined, understated effect.

Ample greenery, including a tranquil Zen Garden, brings vibrancy and freshness to the space, enhancing both its aesthetic and its contribution to employee well-being. State-of-the-art technology, such as switchable glass, advanced audio-visual systems, and meeting room schedulers, has been seamlessly integrated into the design, meeting the demands of a modern workspace. Ergonomic chairs from leading global brands and height-adjustable workstations further demonstrate the project’s commitment to flexibility and employee comfort.

Art and artefacts were curated collaboratively by DataVolt and JTCPL Designs, ensuring a harmonious blend of cultural richness and brand identity. The facility also features bespoke furniture designs and carefully considered lighting solutions, creating a unique yet cohesive environment aligned with DataVolt’s global aspirations.

This Mumbai office is more than just a workspace; it stands as a testament to the synergy between sustainability and design innovation. JTCPL Designs has successfully delivered a facility that meets DataVolt’s exacting standards while embodying its pioneering ethos. Every detail, from materials to technology, reflects the team’s dedication to crafting a space that seamlessly combines functionality with aesthetic excellence.
