As we’ve hinted before, Jakarta has quietly hopped on the bandwagon of the good life for quite some time now, featuring an increasing number modern establishments where to indulge in just about anything. Needless to say, the coffee parlour phenomenon is also here in full swing, featuring ever more design-led cafés across the city’s sprawling metropolitan area. One of the latest to entice savvy young urbanites is TWO THIRDS‘ newest outpost in the city’s leafy Pondok Indah neighbourhood. Occupying a street side unit on the premises of a beauty clinic compound, the café features an interior design by architect Ghefaza Pratsany of local design practice CAR. Extrapolating the design codes which were laid down for the company’s first coffee parlour, the interior sees a backdrop of warm timber panels paired with emerald Sukabumi Stone tiles.
An additional striking colour accent is pink, which is captured by the marble service counter and nearby sofa. Other furnishings include a bench lining the back wall, upholstered in leather and paired with steel tables and retro-style wooden chairs. Special attention has been given to lighting. The lowered ceiling is back lit, but also embeds large ceiling lights—one square, and in the back of the café, a circular shaped one. Additionally, a variety of sleek wall-mounted light fixtures further enhances the Mid-century modern-inspired aesthetic. And given the fact that TWO THIRDS predominantly caters to a Millennial and Gen Z demographic, the café is equipped with a quality sound system which will be used at specific events. The new TWO THIRDS café serves a variety of hot and iced coffee concoctions, in addition to pastries, cookies and pasta dishes. © superfuture
