Club 21 is one of Southeast Asia‘s leading retailers, managing a string of multi-brand boutiques and branded flagship stores in Thailand, Malaysia, and at home base Singapore. It’s on home turf where Club 21 has once again expanded with an additional multi-brand boutique on the premises of Raffles City, one of the city’s many upscale shopping centres. Occupying two adjacent ground floor units measuring a total of approx. 177 sqm. (1,900 sq.ft.), the double-entrance retail space features an understated and quirky interior design by architects Lam Jun Nan and Jax Tan of local spatial design practice OPEN STUDIO. A boxy shaped volume with chunky canopy bearing the brand’s name boldly takes centre stage. Fully clad in gold-coloured mirrors, the structure, which presents a variety of coveted items, cuts obliquely through the two entryways, drawing shoppers inward.
A second gold mirror box features in the long shop front, tilting into the ground as a stage set for creative fashion brands. In stark contrast, the surrounding retail space is unapologetically subdued and monochrome, featuring off-white stuccoed walls with an elegant curved floor-wall transition. Similar suspended clothing racks inside and outside the two aforementioned structures unify the entire premises. The store’s colour palette of soft creams, muted gold, and steel is to understated to such an extent that the merchandise on display effortlessly gain all attention. As said, the new Club 21 store carries women’s and men’s collections of different brands, and included in the tightly curated range are coveted names, such as Alexander Wang, Porter Yoshida, GANNI, ADSB Andersson Bell, rag & bone and Mihara Yasuhiro. © superfuture
