Borum Design transformed North Point offices in San Francisco into a dynamic workspace that harmonizes with the stunning cityscape, blending functional design with storytelling to reflect the firm’s values and aspirations.

A leading independent investment bank, North Point sought to establish a new chapter in its corporate headquarters that both reflected its values and celebrated its success, while maintaining the efficiency of its work style. Partnering with Borum Design, the project began with schematic studies and space planning to guide North Point’s real estate search. This process ultimately led to the discovery of their new home atop the iconic 580 California building, located in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District.

With sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and North Beach, the city’s dramatic scenery became a central inspiration for the design. The Borum Design Team sought to enhance, rather than compete with, this backdrop—crafting interiors that frame the landscape and allow natural light to permeate every corner of the office.

The floor plan was organized to balance collaborative energy with individual focus. Communal areas flow seamlessly into private workstations and touchdown spaces, ensuring flexibility for different modes of work. At the core of the office lies the Hero Lounge, an open-plan conference environment that reimagines the traditional meeting space. Five meeting hubs and an adjacent breakroom encourage interaction and teamwork, reflecting a “Rise & Grind” philosophy that draws cues from both industrial and hospitality design.

Brand storytelling also plays a significant role. Framed artwork and bespoke installations display the logos of North Point’s many clients, honoring the relationships that have defined the firm’s journey. These design choices turn the workplace into a living narrative—one that pays tribute to legacy while pointing toward future growth.

The resulting headquarters is more than an office; it is a statement of identity. By blending functional design with symbolic detail, Borum Design created a workplace that embodies North Point’s history, values, and aspirations. The clients expressed deep satisfaction with a space that not only supports their daily operations but also stands as a testament to their success and vision for the future.
