Sarnova’s new headquarters transformed a dated 1980s office building into a modern workplace that reflects the company’s culture of innovation and service. As a national leader in emergency medical services and acute care for nearly 50 years, Sarnova needed more than a new home; they needed a workplace that could energize its people, embody its mission, and set a standard for the company’s future.

The design is guided by three drivers: sustainability, employee wellbeing, and collaboration. At the heart of the concept is connection, expressed in the seamless flow between exterior and interior, a dramatic entry sequence, a completely rebuilt grand stair, and a central sight line running the length of the building. To achieve this transformation, the front facade was expanded and the interior nearly gutted. This ambitious scope was proudly led entirely by the interior design studio.

The design team successfully tackled the challenge of enhancing collaboration and engagement across the three story floor-plate by balancing open office areas with flexible support spaces, scattered amenities, and dedicated collaboration zones. Executive offices are positioned at the corners of the building to keep leaders close to their teams, while centralizing other offices to the building core prioritizes daylight at workstations. Conference rooms are sized with growth in mind, designed to flex into office space as needs evolve and equipped with advanced technology, thus supporting the demands of an ever evolving workplace. Dedicated innovation labs for each of Sarnova’s four companies further fosters creativity for their innovative and hard-working culture.

Wellness is supported through a layered amenity strategy including an expansive café, coffee bars on each floor, treadmill rooms, individual restrooms and showers, and mothers’/respite rooms. Beyond the walls, three outdoor patios and a walking path extend the culture of wellbeing into the landscape.

By seamlessly blending functionality, sustainability, and thoughtful design, the new headquarters stands as a bold statement of Sarnova’s vision. One that supports its people, inspires collaboration, and elevates the everyday work experience. Extending to the broader community, the project has the potential to bring new energy and spark revitalization to the surrounding office park.
