At long last, Melbourne-based tech performance wear brand MAAP has landed in Sydney. Following a string of store openings across the planet, MAAP LaB Sydney has opened its doors in the city’s leafy Darlinghurst neighbourhood. Occupying 243 sqm. (2,616 sq.ft.) on the ground floor of a redeveloped brick building erected in 1911 by architect Frederick Winn. The interior design, created by Melbourne-based practice and longtime collaborator Clare Cousins Architects, once again features a clean and understated setting, featuring a monochrome backdrop and contrasting, bold electric blue volumes, captured by support pillars and two chunky storage and display units. An additional pop of colour is provided by the elongated sales counter and an adjacent seating facility. The bare ceiling, featuring retained original mouldings and a myriad of utility pipes, is overlaid by a row of suspended linear light fixtures which lend the setting a visual dynamic. The newly opened MAAP LaB Sydney stocks the brand’s full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, and all collaborative items. And similarly to all other outposts, MAAP LaB Sydney also holds curated weekly MAAP rides across town and also maintains a roster of exclusive drops, parties and special guests. © superfuture
