The Room Architecture and Design’s Urban Living Solutions offices in Krong Siem Reap seamlessly integrates flexible work zones and collaborative spaces within a thoughtfully designed, light-filled environment that fosters productivity and comfort.

The Room Architecture and Design completed the new 275 sqm headquarters for Urban Living Solutions (ULS) within Rose Apple Square, a mixed-use destination in central Siem Reap that combines residences, retail, co-working, and cultural facilities. ULS required a workplace that could reflect its culture of flexibility while supporting the daily rhythm of a growing team.

The office is arranged on a single floorplate. Upon entering, the space immediately establishes a clear flow, alternating open workstations with enclosed offices. This layout is supported by shared lounges and informal collaborative areas, encouraging a balance between focused work and casual exchange. Natural light enters from the perimeter glazing, ensuring all areas are well-lit and visually connected.

Material Language
The palette is deliberately pared back. Exposed concrete defines the architectural envelope, accented by surfaces in sage green for clarity and depth. Birch plywood runs throughout in shelving, joinery, and wall treatments, introducing rhythm and warmth against the industrial backdrop. This interplay of raw and natural finishes grounds the space with both function and comfort.

Work Zones
Open benching areas and private offices alternate across the layout. Long plywood shelving walls provide both storage and subtle partitions, giving each zone definition while preserving openness. The constant presence of natural light reinforces the simplicity of the plan and allows the materials to remain the focus.

Collaboration and Breakout Spaces
Informal areas are integrated within the circulation to promote exchange and teamwork. Sofa clusters, large tables, and casual lounges function as huddle spaces where discussions can flow outside of formal meeting rooms. These breakout areas punctuate the office with moments of pause and collaboration.

Modular Design Systems
Custom-designed desks, shelving, and storage were conceived as modular elements. Their proportions and details allow for reconfiguration, expansion, or repurposing, ensuring the office can adapt as team size and workplace culture evolve. Built-in consistency of material and proportion gives the systems cohesion within the larger design.

The new ULS headquarters in Rose Apple Square demonstrates how a modest floorplate can be shaped into an efficient, flexible, and human-scale workplace. Straightforward materials, modular systems, and a balanced layout ensure a space tailored to both present use and future change.
