The Sparkasse – Cassa di Risparmio ecosystem needed a different approach to respond to the disconnection and evolving expectations of younger generations, like Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
The goal of DINN!, the Innovation and Design firm involved, was to design a new sub-brand and retail formatexperience, SPARK. The project moved beyond the traditional bank “branch” to create a meaningful way to engage and retain these strategic audiences.
Spark is not a branch, but a disruptive physical and digital ecosystem that bridges traditional banking and younger generations: a space for aggregation, collaboration, and personal growth.
The retail concept takes shape through two spaces in Bolzano, conceived as experiential hubs: The Spark Space (Via Cassa di Risparmio) acts as a live media and communication studio, producing and sharing initiatives in real time. The Spark Studio (Piazza Walther) serves as a city landmark dedicated to experimentation, workshops, events, and collaborations with local brands, becoming a true community gathering place. Both with a focus on financial education.
Materiality reinforces identity and contrast: Ceppo di Gré flooring roots the space in Alpine culture; neutral physical palettes are paired with polished steel digital frames to create a dynamic phygital dialogue. The brand’s radical soul emerges through Rosso Rosso di Alpi veneers inspired by Ettore Sottsass, transforming color and furniture into expressive symbols of warmth and identity.
