Although already managing four stores on Regent Street, and also in Spitalfields and Battersea, On clearly sees room for expansion, adding a fourth London store in the leafy Kensington area. The cult running shoe brand has secured a 400 sqm. (4,305 sq.ft.) set across two floors of a stately building smack on bustling Brompton Road, and aims to connect with the sizeable active community that makes use of the lush greens of nearby Hyde Park. The interior design, designed in-house at On‘s headquarters in Zurich, is similarly clean and understated as its other retail spaces around the planet, but also features site-specific designs to avoid a generic shopping experience. Half of the ground floor sees an infusion of stone with a blue tinge.
The latter material is captured by large floor tiles, in addition to a more rugged, ridged cladding for the sales counter, and smooth cladding for the staircase leading to the upper floor. Mind you, the other half of the retail space is clad in large tiles. Furnishings and fixtures, all crafted from stainless steel, comprise a large-sized display unit which ties in with the seating benches, clothing displays, and last but not least, the exposed ceiling which bares a lot of metal as well. The setting upstairs sees similarly eclectic flooring, and large display metal display units and clothing displays. The new On store carries the full range of men’s and women’s shoes, apparel, and accessories for performance running, outdoor activities, training, tennis, and everyday use. © superfuture
