Coffee in Chikkamagaluru, the birthplace of Indian coffee, is ritual. Beanaru was created to introduce South Indian filter coffee to a new audience, carrying with it a long tradition of cultivation, brewing, and daily coffee culture.

The project was about storytelling from the start. The founders wanted the brand to communicate where this coffee comes from and why it matters, while presenting it in a way that feels contemporary and refined.

The design started with the brewing process. South Indian filter coffee is prepared using a metal filter of stacked chambers that slowly extract the coffee. That structure became the starting point for the graphic language. The arches used throughout the identity are inspired by the filter components, while also drawing from mid-century architectural forms. Warm earthy tones reference the landscapes of Chikkamagaluru, while brass details connect the packaging to the traditional filters and cups used in preparation.

The pouches are produced with a soft-touch finish, paired with UV spot line work and matte brass foil to differentiate each blend. Brewing instructions and custom icons on the back introduce new customers to the method while reinforcing the sense of ritual.

The shipping box continues the same design language, working both as shipping and gift packaging.

Beanaru brings together origin, story, and design while respecting the tradition it comes from.
