Following the reopening of a store in Los Angeles in 2018, A Bathing Ape a.k.a. BAPE plants a second flag on the U.S. West Coast. The fashion brand, now wholly owned by Hong Kong-based luxury retailer I.T, has just inaugurated a 112 sqm. (1,200 sq.ft.), two-level retail space in the plush downtown Union Square area of San Francisco. The interior design, created entirely in-house at its design headquarters in Tokyo, features BAPE‘s latest street-modern retail aesthetic pairing a white-toned palette with natural materials. Additionally, the design blends the building’s original architecture with contemporary finishes, perhaps most notably, its façade, which preserves the historic structure in black granite beneath an LED screen showcasing the APE head logo. It’s flanked by the brand’s signature Shark Seijin sculpture and a new APE head logo neon light inspired by the American flag. Inside, white-aluminium BAPE ABC Camo surfaces, high-gloss steel panels and wood-grain mosaic tile walls create a layered spatial experience across both floors. The new A Bathing Ape store carries the full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories and footwear. © superfuture
