Yohji Yamamoto already manages shop-in-shops at two branches of Shinsegae department stores in Seoul, while also operating additional pop-up stores elsewhere across town in the past. The Tokyo-based fashion house has now opened another ephemeral retail space in this dynamic shopping destination. Occupying a spacious retail space on the ground floor of a low-rise modern building – mind you, in the same building, on the opposite side, sits the Alexander Wang boutique – in the fashionable Cheongdam area, featuring an interior design which was created in-house. Clean, understated and all white, the retail space sees a display installation with a black carpet and five ceiling-suspended ensembles taking centre stage. It’s flanked on both sides by clothing racks and displays, while at the back, shoppers encounter additional displays and a back wall adorned with framed fashion sketches from designer Yohji Yamamoto‘s newly released book Yohji Yamamoto Drawings.
