In 2013, an exhibit focusing on the history of W.L. Gore & Associates was installed at their Barksdale site. A central hub for the geographic region, the Barksdale facility is home to a conference center, retail store, large scale classrooms, and their Capabilities Center – an interactive display outlining the company’s extensive capabilities in fluoropolymers.

Each decade begins its story with an Introductory volume featuring iconic imagery, rotating slideshows, and LED edgelit introductory text. The story then continues with a softly backlit main volume displaying a floating timeline of key historical events against a backdrop of large scale images and physical artifacts from Gore’s historical archives

Pivot door faced display cabinets act as exhibit anchors. Each pivot door holds a large pane of digitally etched gradient glass shifting from frosted to clear. The gradient etched glass creates a subtle division between the objects displayed within cabinet and the floating timeline attached to the face of the door.

Chosen for its qualities of subtlety and strength, the pivot door seamlessly integrates into the overall structure and easily handles the weight of the floating timeline and 6′-0″ wide gradient etched glass panel. The door functions smoothly and provides front access to the interior of the cabinet.
