A graduate of Kanazawa University’s Department of Urban Design, Chikara Ohno built himself a career in the design of private houses, commercial space as well as projects related to advertising media and art, and with much acclaim both in Japan and abroad. Currently on display at Diesel Art Gallery in Tokyo is an installation by Ohno called Lines, and which incorporates the latest designs of the Diesel Home Collection.
The concept of the showcase is based on a variety of outlines, each one tracing a small space that isn’t referring to a room but instead is more of an extension of the furniture itself. This results in a richly textured visual field where the visitor is given an unusual view of the furniture on display, while as a whole the installation emphasizes not so much the physical objects but the environment and visual experience instead.
