Full service post-production company BUTCHER has recently moved into a new office space located in Santa Monica, California. BUTCHER began their lease inheriting the space from the former CAA co-founder and President of Walt Disney, Michael Ovitz. During Ovitz’s stay, the office housed his prolific art collection, rumored to be valued in the millions.

Located in the tranquil heart of Santa Monica, the office is surrounded by stunning Arbequina olive trees. The main building features a glass firehouse door that opens to a courtyard, bringing in ample light and atmosphere to relax the space. Workspaces are arranged for functionality and comfort, with colors echoing the soft features of the furniture and clean walls drawing attention to the high, bowstring trussed ceilings.

Some conversions were necessary to accommodate the space’s five offline edit suites and connect them to a central server room. The office’s blend of spaces range from casual to formal and from private to collaborative. Collectively they create a relaxing environment for visiting clients that is still structured and focused for employees. By juxtaposing a western, rustic aesthetic with a minimalist approach to layout and furnishing, BUTCHER founders Rob Van and Dave Henegar have created a receptive, beautiful space with a simplicity that ensures employees and clients never tire of it.
