Meet MisterDesign, a local and growing retailer of high-end furniture and lighting. In a world of fakes and inauthentic design, designers Studio 34 South wanted to reconnect consumers with the innovation, context and thus the value of the original pieces.
Studio 34 South’s approach was to examine and represent the conflicting themes of manufacturing and craftsmanship that have co-existed throughout history.
The ‘Innovation Platform’, a 25 metre long raised joinery piece cuts the old factory space into 3 parts. Its curved oak veneer walls and plywood shelves evoke a feeling of heritage as they resonate designers like Eames and Thonet’s moulded ply and bent wood technology.
