Renamed Mercat, the place has been given a makeover by design practice Concrete to match its new hospitality formula. Inspired by Catalonia’s lively food halls, packed to the guilds with fresh produce, Mercat’s interior mimics such an environment in a stylized way. Referencing the many hawkers are two separate food stalls, one is free-standing and serves as a drinks and foods bar. A mesh steel canopy has been placed atop, adorned by names of Spanish products in neon lettering, and actual products dangling from the structure.

Another similarly decorated stall is semi-attached to the kitchen, and directly situated on top is a mezzanine floor with additional and a more secluded seating capacity. The furnishings are intentionally eclectic, varying from vintage chairs, to wooden tables and comfy chesterfield sofas. To heighten the feel of authenticity, a motley collection of Spanish food-related artifacts are showcased in open cabinets below three aligned arched passages that lead to the restaurant area.
