The global retail expansion of Officine Universelle Buly accelerates and has now reached the bustling Philippine capital Manila. The boutique, situated at the newly opened Greenbelt 3, a luxury wing of the eponymous shopping centre in the leafy Makati area of town, is a collaborative effort with local luxury retailer H&F Retail Concepts which also introduced two other branded stores here. Occupying a compact corner unit on the ground floor, the store features an interior design by creative director Ramdane Touhami and Art Recherche Industrie, the brand’s affiliated, Paris-based design firm. Similar to other Officine Universelle Buly retail spaces, this one also features an interior design that’s inspired by local culture. Shoppers pass a façade of moulded panels in dark wood and glass, while the brand’s name is spelled out in gold letters across a black marble frieze.
Inside, Louis XV-inspired moulded walls dipped in a striking Celadon green hue, a firm nod to ancestral homes in the historic neighbourhoods of Boac and across the islands of Cebu or Bulacan, parquet flooring, and a coffered wooden ceiling inspired by the unique blend of local, Spanish and Chinese architectural styles, all form the backdrop of seven of large-sized cabinets in gilded brass and topped with black marble slabs, each laden with coveted merchandise. Adding a distinct contemporary touch to the setting are counters clad in shimmering brushed steel plates. On one side of the shop, two Art Deco-inspired jade green velvet and mahogany wood benches are placed between the display cabinets, allowing shoppers to sit back in between shopping sprees and take in the eclectic splendour. The new Officine Universelle Buly store carries a curated selection of the brand’s product range.
