At long last, Gentle Monster has landed in Bangkok with a retail space of its own. Situated on the premises of EmQuartier, one of the city’s leading department stores, it occupies a spacious 340 sqm. (3,660 sq.ft.) on the so-called M Floor, rubbing shoulders with the boutiques of 3.1 Philip Lim, Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone and other leading brands. The interior design, similarly to all other Gentle Monster stores across the planet, is highly evocative and has been designed by the brand’s in-house design team at home base Seoul. While the walls are lined with a variety of sleek shelving units, Gentle Monster‘s signature fantastical creatures literally take centre stage. Here, the evocative lineup includes what looks like a large sculpture of an eagle head skeleton, set against a backdrop of a large LED screen featuring branded footage, an equally imposing round sculpture with a somewhat eerily blinking eye, an installation of rocks intricately connected by steel rods and electrical cords, and last but not least, as if guarding the other entrance, a lifesize fluffy bison. The new Gentle Monster store carries the brand’s full range of eyewear and its collaborative collections.
