the pavilion is designed as a contemporary structure in harmony with nature, which integrates into the listed complex of the spa gardens without altering their historical character. the aim was to create a functional and sophisticated building that complements the park and expands its range of uses.
the pavilion is based on a timber frame construction with rafters and studs clad with engineered wood panels. the façade is made of natural wood and planked with wooden floorboards, ensuring a sustainable and robust construction. the design takes ecological criteria into account and, with its natural materials, blends harmoniously into the park landscape.
the pavilion’s folded roof creates a clear and concise cubature that is characterised by a contemporary architectural language. its shape is a direct reference to the history of salt mining at this site, namely the shape of salt crystals. large expanses of glazing create a flowing transition between interior and exterior space and allow for a wide range of uses.
the building remains subordinate to the spa gardens in terms of its dimensions and appearance and serves as a sculptural addition. it sets specific architectural accents without detracting from the historical character of the park. the pavilion’s design language combines traditional design elements with modern architecture, thus contributing to the enhancement of the park.
