PLAJER + FRANZ designed a premium multi-brand concept at Istanbul Airport in 2023 with Gebr. Heinemann/ATU Duty Free. The “Luxury Square” sits in a prime spot past security and invites travellers into an open, bazaar-like space under tree-shaped light structures. Phase one showcases luxury accessories, leather goods, watches and jewellery. A sunglasses display forms the centrepiece, with brands like Dior, Givenchy, Burberry, Chloé and Saint Laurent staged on polished brass fixtures. Beige and dark brown Turkish marble highlights brand zones, while large screens outside and small monitors inside enhance the experience.
Phase two runs through the space with bold contrasts and fresh materials. Labels like Axel Arigato, Casablanca, Kenzo and Palm Angels target a younger crowd. Black chrome shelving, terrazzo storage and light oak create clear orientation. A central round feature with mannequins and surrounding sneaker displays faceted in black chrome with illuminated tops add a striking highlight. Seating, poufs and discreet fitting rooms with special lighting and mirrors boost comfort. Lush plants throughout evoke a relaxed lounge feel, while smart wayfinding guides visitors to linger and discover.
This “Luxury Square” sets a new benchmark for international airport retail and attracts global attention.
