Located in Adalaj, Gujarat, Asterix Café by UrbanNest Design Studio reimagines the contemporary café as a bold, experience-driven destination. Moving away from the typical pastel-toned coffee environment, the design embraces a striking monochromatic palette where blacks and greys are layered with raw textures to create depth, drama, and atmosphere.

The ground floor is anchored by a sculptural barista counter finished in white terrazzo plaster, set against matte black pine panels that frame the brewing experience. Lighting is carefully composed to highlight material textures and elevate merchandise and specialty brews as curated displays.

Spatially, the café unfolds as a multi-layered social environment. An outdoor amphitheater connects the café with adjoining pickleball courts, while the interior transitions from an intimate coffee space on the ground floor to a flexible cultural venue above, capable of hosting performances, exhibitions, and community events.

Inspired by the metaphor of a cave, the design introduces fluid, sculpted forms that soften conventional geometry. A rich palette of micro-concrete, beaten metal, terrazzo plaster, matte wood, and raw stone ensures that black becomes not a limitation, but a medium for depth and expression.
