Max von Werz Arquitectos, in collaboration with Mauricio Mesta Arquitectos, has designed the exhibition design for the major exhibition Constelaciones y derivas: arte de América Latina desde la Colección FEMSA. The exhibition opened on March 19, 2026, at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey (MARCO) and will run through August 9, 2026.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the FEMSA Collection presents Constelaciones y derivas: arte de América Latina desde la Colección FEMSA at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey. The exhibition offers a reading of the collection centered on the diverse perspectives and explorations proposed by Latin American artistic production during the 20th and 21st centuries. Utilizing a constellation model, the show departs from singular, linear narratives to activate connections between works, eras, and geographies, revealing the diverse approaches, languages, and perspectives that span the region’s artistic production.

The exhibition design for Constelaciones y derivas proposes a textile landscape that envelops and guides the visitor. Oak wood grid structures divide the spaces, generate new gallery sequences, and provide additional exhibition surfaces. At the same time, soft and textured elements—pleated curtains and velvet-covered panels—serve as backdrops that enhance the works on display.

Each thematic zone is distinguished by its own color, marking the transition from one curatorial theme to the next. The furniture designed for the exhibition, including platforms, pedestals, and benches, shares a constructive language and dialogue with the wooden structures that organize the various exhibition spaces.

As a whole, the exhibition design transforms its environment into a sensory instrument that facilitates contemplation and dialogue between the artworks, the spaces of the MARCO museum, and the visitor.
