At long last, MAAP has arrived in London, opening MAAP LaB London, its eleventh outpost in one of the city’s most coveted shopping areas—Soho. The Melbourne-based cycling and lifestyle apparel brand secured a 140 sqm. (1,507 sq.ft.) space on the ground floor of a listed historic building, featuring a collaborative interior of the brand with Clare Cousins Architects, a practice also based in the Victorian capital. Unsurprisingly, the design codes are partly inspired the neighbourhood, featuring a cobbled stone floor while referencing the one-day Classics that form part of cycling’s rich heritage. Furnishings are crafted from stainless steel and aluminium, materials drawn from the precision engineering of the bicycle itself, set against a bold infusion of of electric green, captured by a display table and a large modular sofa. Movement is introduced through a curved steel wall which catches the store in a blur of reflections that recalls the peloton in motion. The new MAAP LaB London stocks the full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, and collaboration items. Similar to all other outposts across the planet, MAAP LaB London aims to be a meeting place for the local cycling community, hosting interactions and celebrating cycling culture through talks, activations and community rides. © superfuture
