SHIPPING CONTAINERS! Re:START Shopping mall, Christchurch – New Zealand

February 5th, 2013 by retail design blog

Awesome example of a shopping centre based around use of shipping containers. A wide range of different designs and developments in this successful project. Shame there is not some use of upright container use.

  1. You have wonderful views which are evident from your writings. Keep posting such kind of blogs as they are really informative, wish you good luck for your future blogs and hope they receive as much appraisal as you have got now.

We had a chance to shop and buy some things here from various stores on our recent trip to New Zealand. Totally amazed how something as simple as a shipping container could be transformed! Awesome job! Loved the food courts and the coffee bars also.

What a great idea! so close to park and a large variety of stalls/containers it is a pity that one operator (cosy café) does not understand the meaning of service, 5 of us purchased different items from this café with 2 of the group purchasing from a different take away, all of our group was asked to leave as we sat eating having to take the food purchased at cosy café and from another retailer. we were not the only ones asked to leave his seats as a young family next to us was also moved on for the same reason taking food purchased from crazy café carrying it to the park. We will not be going back to this place when we return in November as we feel people like this are, crazy not cosy?
