DAarchitects designed the Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Offices in Sofia to foster creativity and collaboration through a flexible, ergonomic layout, reflecting the company’s Japanese heritage and commitment to high-quality design.

JTI requested us to design their new workplace in Sofia, with the goal of creating maximum comfort and flexibility for their employees, in accordance with the highest international standards.

The company’s Japanese heritage and global leadership strongly influenced the project concept, emphasizing on high quality and a refined minimalist approach.

Driven by the principles of teamwork and creativity, we developed an innovative office plan where conventional workstations are less than 40% of the office area. Instead, we created diverse functional zones for collaboration, creative work, meetings, social interaction, relaxation, and dining — that blend seamlessly into each other.

Ergonomics played a central role throughout the design. All desks are height-adjustable, and the furniture in each zone varies in height and seating posture to promote movement and healthy circulation during the workday.

The color scheme gradually transitions according to the function of each area, blending monochromatic tones with soft pastel accents, natural greenery and warm wood elements. Sculptural acoustic panels ensure excellent sound comfort while adding an elegant, tactile quality to the spaces. The new space is bright, open, with a sense of spaciousness and light.
