Space & Solutions has designed the new offices of cloud security and compliance company Alert Logic located in Cardiff, Wales.

Alert Logic sourced office space in Cardiff for their EMEA Head Office and engaged Space & Solutions to design and build their European Operations Centre, required to operate on a ‘follow-the-sun’ basis with US operations. Alert Logic are a vibrant, fast growing and successful IT Security company and see themselves as a next generation security company and wanted their new workspace to reflect this.

The workspace was imaginatively constructed around a chronological journey of Alert Logics history. Emphasis was placed on significant stages of the Alert Logics growth to date, marking important achievements and embedding companies culture at all times. Beginning in a coffee shop style front of house which was designed to enhance the client and staff experience in what is a highly competitive market.

The workspace was designed around 100 person headcount with facilities to accommodate an increase in staff numbers as the business grew. All areas are free-flowing and flexible to unite the workforce and provide a professional environment with an abundance of flamboyance.

The central hub is the beating heart of the floor space, containing a garage style café area, a sound-bar, meeting spaces and a tiered ‘Welsh Valley’ seating zone – it’s dramatic. The secure open plan work environments adjoining the hub include small huddle rooms and away from the desk spaces. The climax of the journey showcases the operations centre which is viewed via an opaque faceted glass wall which changes to clear at the flick of a switch – a lasting impression to everyone who visits.

The colours and materials used were introduced to unite the Texan and Welsh heritage resulting in a perfect blend of subtle, tongue-in-cheek references which added humour to the proceedings. One of the meeting rooms, rather unconventionally fitted out with an unusual array of soft furnishings, was named ‘The Cwtch’ which is Welsh for hug – across the rooms glazed partitioning the words ‘Anyone can give you a hug but only the Welsh can give you a cwtch’.

The space created was striking and energetic – promoting wellbeing and collaboration throughout.
