In 1956 Carrera is founded in Austria by Wilhelm Anger. When creating the brand, Anger took inspiration from the Carrera Panamericana, a six-day race across Mexico. The race was considered the most dangerous race in the world. Anyone could enter, but only the ones with a burning desire to race did.
Carrera was born of racing. Inspired by the Carrera Panamericana – at its time the longest, fastest, and most dangerous race in the world – Wilhelm Anger founded Carrera in 1956. The need for thrill is in our bones. From sunglasses, to sports glasses, to ski goggles and helmets, our history is lined with innovation. Half a century of international sports victories vouch for our passion for development and technological research. In collaboration with athletes, we will continue to push Carrera so that you can push your limits, and leave your mark on life. You race, or you don’t.
