The recent renewal of Siam Discovery that we talked about in a previous post comes with a slew of novelties that has Bangkok’s savvy shopaholics jump for joy. Not only have the premises been transformed into the most alluring shopping grounds in town, but the level of offerings have gone up a notch or two as well, as the arrival of cool new brands can testify. Next to themed floors, Siam Discovery has now also become home to branded boutiques, and one of the new arrivals is a new flagship store of Issey Miyake. The Japanese fashion brand had already bee present in the Thai capital with a store at Emquartier Mall and a handful of prestigious sales points across town. But the luxury brand’s latest retail endeavor, a full-fledged flagship store on the premises of the renewed Siam Discovery trumps it all.
Measuring over 500 sqm. [5,382 sq.ft.] set over two floors, the store features an interior design by Tokujin Yoshioka, the multidisciplinary designer from Tokyo who designed Issey Miyake flagship stores across the planet. Very similarly, the aesthetic is understated, featuring uncluttered and whitewashed open spaces. Furnishings are few and comprise of sleek displays and clothing racks. Additionally, matching mannequins wearing the newest collections dot both floors. And speaking of which, the new flagship store stocks quite a few lines for both men and women, including Issey Miyake, Issey Miyake men, pleats please Issey Miyake, Homme Plissé Issey Miyake, Bao Bao Issey Miyake,Me Issey Miyake and 132 5. Issey Miyake.
