The Sonoma Cafe in Woollahra represents the third Sonoma Bakery cafe designed by U+I Building Studio. The colour palette is kept in line with the previous Sonoma cafe fitouts and is dominated by natural, dark and warm tones. We’ve used brushed copper that harmonises with the colour and texture of the breads, combined with a black background to highlight the products.

The full height of the space was utilised and the curved corrugated ceiling has been fitted with skylights to allow more natural light into the space. The retractable awning allows the courtyard to be used in all weather conditions and the boundary between indoors and outdoors is blurred. Planter boxes around the courtyard create an intimate space separated from the footpath.
