The Issey Miyake brand is in full expansion mode on the old continent. Following the opening of an outpost in Antwerp one-and-a-half years ago, its boutique in Zurich has been relocated a stone’s throw away within the historic cobblestoned part of town. Situated directly across the Fraumünster Church on an intimate square, the store occupies a 230 sqm. ground floor unit of a 13th-century building. Tokujin Yoshioka, the Tokyo-based architect who has created interiors of many Issey Miyake boutiques across the planet, has designed a setting that hinges on an intricate balance between a futuristic aesthetic with clean lines, captured by coloured aluminum panels, and the building’s original architectural details.

A band of pale blue demarcates the store’s dimensions whille adding a certain freshness to the design. The relocated Issey Miyake boutique carries an extensive range of brand lines, including Issey Miyake, Issey Miyake Men, Pleats Please Issey Miyake, Bao Bao Issey Miyake, Homme Plissé Issey Miyake, 132 5. Issey Miyake, Haat, in addition to watches, fragrances and light fixtures. Next week, the Japanese luxury brand will launch a brand new flagship store in Milan prestigious duomo shopping district.
