As much as we roll our eyes at clichés, we just gotta love the clever black + white palette of Hotel Mono. Adding up to the revival – and dare we say, the neighbourhood’s increasing allure – of Singapore’s Chinatown area, the sleek-chic property occupies a row of six shop houses from the colonial era. Obviously, the original façade has been fully preserved, but now dipped in a stylish new colour scheme, it hints what’s to be found indoors.

Designed by acclaimed local design studio SPACEDGE, the boutique property features just 46 rooms, including single rooms, double rooms, studio rooms, and even a family room. And yes, the black + white colour coding consistently extends to all of these pads and into the bathrooms. As said, the aesthetic inside provides an intriguing contrast with the façade, as all the rooms and public spaces flaunt modern understatement. And it’s needless to say that these pads come with all the requirements you need for a relaxing or productive stay in town, including a custom king koil pocketed spring bed, high-speed wifi, a flatscreen TV, and a well-designed bathroom with complimentary toiletries.
