Developed by Yen-Hao, Chu for Ziihome, the ‘Hill’ chair combines style and comfort in one. Through a series of ergonomics calculations and mechanical equilibrium testings, the designer has formed an elegant model with a ‘perfect backrest’, using CNC carving, and classic twine-weaving.
‘waist support is the key factor in determining the comfort of a chair’ Yen-Hao, Chu shares. The backrest of the ‘hill’ chair is precisely carved by CNC, and the 3d steradian fits the user’s back perfectly. In order to form an ideally convenient model, the designer has designed a 20mm thick suspended backrest, and an inner joint with a width of 130mm. The upper and lower parts are tightly fastened together, to support the user firmly. The lateral bearing capacity is up to 200kg.
The seat is fully handwoven, following a classic twine-weaving technique. The woven paper twine presents uniform density and neat texturing. The top and bottom interlaced double weaving is strong and firm, possesses flexibility, and has a great bearing capacity. Hence, the chair is comfortable and relaxing, allowing one to sit for long without getting tired.
