The deodorant is shaped like a pebble, referencing the longevity and sustainability inherent in the product itself. The size and design of the case and its cradle, the Deo Dish, were determined by the business model behind Fussy deodorant; the refills and the case need to fit through letterboxes as part of the subscription nature of the business.
Blond designed a hard-wearing case, with increased wall thickness and sturdy mechanisms to ensure longevity. Following extensive research, recycled plastic was chosen above bio-composites or bioplastics, as this material is easier to recycle. Blond’s founder James Melia intentionally chose a single material for all component parts, allowing the entire product to be recycled or composted in full, without being disassembled.
The naturally ergonomic form of the deodorant case gives the product a premium aesthetic. It was designed to fit perfectly in the hand and blend seamlessly with the user’s lifestyle, whether at home, in the pocket, at work or in a gym bag. A matt finish was chosen as a nod to homeware and ceramics that are used every day. This will gradually take on a patina, becoming more worn and beautiful over time like a pebble you might find on a beach.
