Retail group ITHK asked us to design a new flagship store for BAPE’s sister brand AAPE —focused on a younger consumer— on New York’s Lafayette St. Our vision was to create a contemporary space that transformed the shopping experience through executions that live in-store and extend past bricks-and-mortar. The concept contemplated a near-future of constant surveillance, where the store creates a feedback loop between customers and digital displays.
The physical palette built on AAPE’s successful design cues and took them to the next level, featuring logo light displays, an interactive digital wall, shimmering perforated metal walls and a bespoke camo-terrazzo floor. This retail concept will continue to inform the next generation of AAPE.
