There’s no doubt that Miami always had all the ingredients to be a global lifestyle hub, but the arrival of Art Basel Miami, an annual ‘local’ edition of the planet’s biggest modern art playground, has tremendously influenced the city’s retail landscape. Following a large number of brand’s from fashion and lifestyle’s upper echelon, leading streetwear and sneaker emporium KITH has opened its newest outpost in Miami‘s buzzing Design District, and that’s not all, it comes with a standalone satellite venue for its popular KITH Treats ice cream parlour. Occupying two floors of a modern building right next to the Institute of Contemporary Arts, the interior design, created by KITH founder Ronnie Fieg, sees its signature concept mirrors transposed against details that embody modern elements the neighborhood is known for.
The brand’s neutral colour palette is paired with vibrant shades of green, incorporated through the interior landscape design as a nod to the city’s natural beauty. Floors crafted from various sorts of marble and structures are woven alongside sinuously fluted plaster, brass, birch wood, and painted gypsum throughout the premises. Upon entering the store, a circular volume ushers shoppers to either the men’s or women’s section, each brimming with offerings. The setting upstairs features ribbed fabric walls across the expansive circular shoe room, adding a distinct ornamental touch to the otherwise understated store design. Also to be found upstairs is Sadelle’s at KITH, the new Miami branch of Major Food Group’s renowned restaurant in New York City.
Whitewashed ash walls with picture frame molding are paired with a checkerboard floor, fluted ming green counter and fluted marble header, creating a space that is both polished and inviting. The restaurant serves its signature menu items, including its infamous brunch items. Across the street, a standalone outpost of KITH Treats can be found. The setting sees a circular marble bar with matching stools and stainless-steel accents, and highlighted by parlour-style cereal canister wall. The menu lists new exclusive Signature Specials created by friends and family of KITH, in addition to an extended menu of original Belgian waffle offerings. The space also stocks the brand’s global inline apparel capsule collections.
