Hermès has expanded its retail presence in Los Angeles. Following outposts in Beverly Hills, Costa Mesa, and also at LAX Airport, the iconic French fashion house has opened a boutique in Canoga Park area of town. Situated on the premises of Westfield Topanga shopping centre, Hermès joins a growing list of luxury brands which has set up shop here. Occupying a sizeable ground floor unit, the boutique is designed by Paris-based architecture practice and longtime collaborator RDAI, and combines façade columns inspired by the surrounding nature with a palette of colours and textures akin to nearby Topanga State Park. Upon entering the premises, shoppers find themselves in the first of four different sections, featuring Hermès‘ renowned women’s silk range, fragrances and beauty products, all in a terracotta setting and lit by the soft light of Grecque lights.
A separate area presents small leather goods and equestrian gear. The next section features jewellery and men’s silk, followed by an area framed by two walls in sand tones which showcases shoes for both women and men. The final store section, featuring wall finishes echo the clay shades of the travertine stone and large mosaic on the floor which pay homage to the outdoor vegetation, presents the women’s and men’s apparel collections with niches in clear terracotta stucco and displays in cherry-wood veneer. Elevating the shopping experience at the new Hermès store s a curated selection of artworks, ranging from photographs by Joel Meyerowitz, and a dreamlike landscape by photographer Catherine Henriette from the Émile Hermès Collection, and a luxuriant, sun-drenched scarf by Brazilian illustrator Filipe Jardim.
