Last week, Spanish luxury brand LOEWE inaugurated a new second boutique in Indonesia‘s bustling capital Jakarta. Following an outpost at Plaza Indonesia shopping centre, LOEWE and local retail partner MAP have now secured a 183 sqm. (1,970 sq.ft.) unit on the ground floor of Pacific Place, another upscale shopping centre in the Senayan area of town. The interior design, created by the brand’s Madrid-based in-house design team, takes ample cues from parting creative director Jonathan Anderson‘s highly artisanal Casa LOEWE retail concept. The store façade is covered in handmade glazed tiles in a soft green hue, and equivalents recur throughout the premises in emerald green and silver. The material palette also includes marble, oak, brass, turned iron and concrete, which all add to the carefully calibrated artisanal retail aesthetic.
Similar to all other LOEWE retail spaces across the planet, an additional visual layering is provided by a curated range of furnishings and artworks, such as the chunky Utrecht chairs by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld, a striking wool rug made in Spain and featuring a reproduction of British textile artist John Allen’s bucolic-style tapestry Peveril of the Peak, and black iron martini tables, podiums in silver ceramic and marble finishes designed by the in-house design team. As said, there artworks on display as well, and these include an untitled, acrylic and ash on cotton work by Welsh-born, Glasgow-based artist Merlin James, and also a trio of etchings by American artist Paul Thek. The new LOEWE store carries women’s apparel, accessories, bags, small leather goods and eyewear. © superfuture
