Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, one of Europe‘s major hub airports, is shifting gear. The airport is already known for its excellent shopping facilities, and has traditionally hosted uniform retail spaces brimming with coveted tax-free goods. But the tide has turned. Following the inauguration of standalone branded stores of Gucci and BALENCIAGA, events we’ve covered in previous posts, luxury retail has once again expanded at the airport with the arrival of a Louis Vuitton boutique. Situated airside, in the section of the departure hall for intercontinental flights, the Louis Vuitton store measures approx. 200 sqm. (2,153 sq.ft.) occupying a standalone boxy structure with a striking façade comprising undulating slats paired with a colourful light band. Designed in-house, the Inside features elegantly designed settings which present different Louis Vuitton collections, including women’s bags, shoes, eyewear, and fragrances, in addition to men’s shoes and city guides. Similar to many other Louis Vuitton retail spaces, artworks are present on the premises, which aim to elevate the shopping experience. The most notable piece is a colourful totem by Florencia Vual which that incorporates work by Brussels-based Dutch artist Hadassa Emmerich. © superfuture
