ADAL CREATIVE PLACE OSAKA is the Osaka branch and showroom for a Fukuoka-based furniture manufacturer, situated in Osaka-Honmachi’s business district. Housed in a 40-year-old stepped building with original tiles and rows of small windows, the project preserves the structure’s unique silhouette and serene presence. The client requested a hybrid office and Live Furniture Showroom, so the design ensures that daily work and product showcases can seamlessly coexist. Initially, all ceilings and pre-existing elements were removed, creating an open, clean slate for planning. The concept, “THE SHOW (Mitetteya),” reflects Osaka’s welcoming spirit, inviting visitors to explore freely and feel at home. The design emphasizes the interplay between people and furniture, treating both as central to the experience and communication within the space. The entrance hall, formerly a rectangular elevator hall, now features an arc extension, allowing spaces to flow into each other without clear boundaries. Glass walls frame views and encourage spontaneous, natural interactions. In the office area, thin plates accent the exposed skeleton ceiling, marking subtle transitions between zones and providing a calming effect. The overall goal is to foster new forms of communication and community in Osaka by shaping the environment through furniture and spatial openness.
