There may be a lot going on in Kyiv, but luckily, there’s still room to enjoy the good life. Embedded in Seven Lakes, a hotel complex with landscaped gardens in the Petropavlivska Borshchahivka suburb of the Ukrainian capital, the Farm Table restaurant totally lives up to its name and dining concept. Occupying a standalone low-rise structure, the restaurant measures no less than 753 sqm. (8,105 sq.ft.), and features an interior design by acclaimed Ukrainian design practice YOD Group. Aligned with its commitment to local ingredients and a menu centred on fish from the property’s own lakes and seasonal farm-grown produce, the chosen aesthetic sees an infusion of untreated timber captured not only by the walls and ceiling, but also most of the furnishings and fixtures.
Large floor-to-ceiling windows and circular skylights allow in floods of daylight, and fully open vertically when weather permits, connecting the indoor space directly with the lush garden. The Farm Table restaurant is anchored by a large open kitchen, allowing ample peeks of the culinary frenzy and making it part of the spatial experience of guests. Locally sourced red sandstone is used for the flooring, tying in al of the restaurant’s sections, but is also used as a material for the communal tables, bar elements, and last but not least, a robust sculptural wine display in the lobby. Pine trees in large planters further emphasise Farm Table‘s connection to nature, while also subtly breaking the design’s linear and curvilinear dimensions. © superfuture
