CBRE Design Collective’s design for their offices in Zwolle exemplifies sustainable design through versatile spaces, creative reuse of furniture, and a commitment to reducing CO₂ emissions by 50%.
From Idea to Impact: The Story Behind CBRE Zwolle
It all started with a question: How do we create a place where the Zwolle team can work, meet, and organize events – and do so in the most sustainable way possible?
Not an easy task, especially with limited floor space. But that challenge sparked our creativity.
Flexibility was a must. Although the layout itself was not flexible, we came up with smart solutions to make the space versatile in use.
By combining patterns and textures with natural materials, we added warmth and accessibility. The result is an office where regular users feel at home, and guests can easily settle in.
We chose a radical approach: only reuse furniture from suppliers. Some pieces were refurbished and given a second life, while others could be used as-is. This created an interior that is not only circular but also radiates character and authenticity.
And the best part: our efforts led to a 50% reduction in CO₂ emissions. A figure that is not just an achievement but proof that sustainability and design can go hand in hand.
This is not just an office. It’s a place that shows reuse doesn’t limit – it enriches. A place where people come together, ideas are born, and every choice contributes to a better future.
