Although already well-represented in Tokyo with two standalone boutiques and two shop-in-shops, TAMBURINS sees room for growth, opening a new store in the city’s Daikanyama shopping area. Occupying a modern two-level building in the middle of the neighbourhood, the store features an interior design which has been created in-house and in collaboration with IICOMBINED LAB, a special division of the fragrance brand’s eponymous parent company. Similar to the majority of other TAMBURINS retail spaces, the latter entity ensures plenty of visual spectacle on the premises, using its animatronics technology to make fantastical yet also realistic creatures which often show movement one way or another. The light-filled ground is anchored by Sunshine, a cutesy, 13-metre (43.7 ft) sleeping dachshund sculpture, albeit with sci-fi body armour. Mind you, a staircase allows shoppers to view the sculpture in its entirety from above.
A special photo booth, aptly dubbed Sunshine AI Twin Look, is readily available to eager shoppers, blending reality and imagination, and last but not least, fun to the shopping experience. On screen, the dachshund transforms into a matching outfit with shoppers, allowing them to take pics together. Here, the backdrop is bright yellow, largely captured by curtains alternated by wooden display units laden with merchandise, and flooring. One floor up, an elegant lounge-like space unfolds, shoppers can indulge in perfumes, hand and lip products, body products, and home fragrances, all presented in different nooks dipped in yellow and paired with black flooring. Furnishings include robust faux tile shelving units, a large sculptural display table, and matching seating in the shape of a rawhide dental bone. The new TAMBURINS flagship store stocks the brand’s full range of products. © superfuture
