Appartement 103 unveils the new identity for Admiral’s Rum: a strategic repositioning for Saint Lucia’s iconic rum brand
Appartement 103 is proud to reveal its redesign of Admiral’s Rum, formerly known as Admiral Rodney Rum, for SPIRIBAM. More than a name change, the project marks a decisive strategic evolution: moving the brand beyond the legacy of a historical figure and toward a more distinctive, contemporary and globally relevant premium identity.

Rooted in the spirit of navigation, exploration and craft, the new brand platform brings sharper meaning, greater clarity and stronger shelf impact to one of Saint Lucia’s most prestigious rum houses.

With this transformation, Admiral’s Rum enters a new chapter, designed to strengthen its international positioning and express, with greater precision, what the brand stands for today.

From heritage to brand meaning
The transition from Admiral Rodney Rum to Admiral’s Rum reflects a deliberate repositioning. The objective was not to erase the brand’s heritage, but to reinterpret it through a more modern and intentional lens, one less tied to a singular historical figure and more anchored in a broader brand world.

Appartement 103 developed a new identity system centred on the codes of the maritime route: navigation, discovery, mastery and journey. This strategic shift gives the brand a more ownable territory and a stronger emotional and visual platform for future growth.

The new signature, “The Pursuit of Discovery,” captures this philosophy and reinforces the brand’s ambition: to celebrate not only the destination, but the craft, curiosity and expertise behind every expression.

A more premium, more coherent identity
The redesign introduces a more elevated and structured visual language across the range.

At the heart of the identity is a stronger central icon, paired with refined typography and a more confident composition, giving the brand greater distinction and presence. The packaging architecture has been redesigned to create a clearer range hierarchy, making the portfolio easier to navigate while reinforcing the perception of quality and collectability.

Colour plays a central role in the system, guiding each expression and supporting recognition across the range. Premium finishes and elegant detailing further enhance the super-premium positioning, bringing a sense of modern sophistication while preserving the authenticity of the liquid’s Saint Lucian roots.

Designed for today’s premium spirits consumer
Beyond aesthetics, the redesign responds to a key market need: clarity.

The new packaging highlights the information that matters most to knowledgeable consumers and premium spirits buyers, including age statements, cask types and distillation references. This transparent approach reflects the growing importance of authenticity, traceability and expertise in the premium and super-premium spirits category.

At the same time, the range naming has been simplified to create a more intuitive and cohesive product proposition, an important step in building stronger recognition across international markets and trade channels.

For marketers, the result is a brand system built not just for beauty, but for performance: more consistent, more legible, and more scalable across touchpoints.

A brand ready for what’s next
This new identity was created to help Admiral’s Rum compete with greater confidence on the international stage. By sharpening its strategic foundations and elevating its visual expression, the brand is now better equipped to resonate with a new generation of premium spirits drinkers while strengthening its credibility with distributors, retailers and the on-trade.

For Appartement 103, the project is a clear example of how design can unlock brand value — translating heritage into relevance, and craftsmanship into contemporary desirability.

“With Admiral’s Rum, the ambition was to create an identity that feels both more intentional and more expansive, one that honours the brand’s origins while giving it a stronger platform for the future. By shifting the focus toward navigation, exploration and savoir-faire, we helped build a world that is richer, clearer and more premium in every sense.”— Julien Zylbermann, Appartement 103’s Creative Director and Co-founder.
