With a keen eye for forward fashion, Dune is a Tokyo-based agency that’s on top of its game. The company has also been active in retail for several years now, initially with a quirky little men’s store on Cat street, nowadays an increasingly commercialized shopping strip in the Harajuku district. The store eventually relocated to the more sophisticated shopping grounds of Shibuya, and this move has proven to be quite inspiring as the company has recently opened a second store right next door. Aptly called N ID a Deux – a name that’s obviously inspired by Dune’s first store N ID – it’s a complementing shop that predominantly caters to a female shopping demographic with fashion pieces and home items. Similar to the aesthetic of the first store, it presents a raw, understated interior that uses the concrete shell of the building as a blank canvas.
An expansive glass façade allows in floods of daylight and provides passers by unobstructed views of the interior which sees a minimum of interventions. Furnishings consist of simple woorden displays and suspended wooden rods serve as clothing racks. The store concept of N ID a Deux has a strong articstic inclination and that’s very much reflected by the setting. celebrating the opening, the earth.rope.pot.plant installation by Antwerp-based fashion designer Narelle Dore and make-up artist Sigrid Volders temporarily adorns the premises. So, what’s in store? as a so-called select shop, N ID a Deux carries a tightly curated range of niche brands and items from around the planet, and the coming season the shop features apparel pieces by Henrik Vibskov and Kloke, Waka Waka furniture, watches by Nejicommu, building block’s leather accessories, and shoes by reality studio.
