The ongoing solo exhibition SHADOVVS features the latest artworks by American designer Matt W. Moore at 886 Geary Gallery in San Francisco, California.

The hosting space – versed in urban and contemporary art – turned out to be the ideal location for the artist-cum-designer’s colourful creations. As founder of MWM Graphics, Moore’s graffiti art background is revealed within a personal graphic vocabulary which also emerges in his commercial projects. Inspired by a spontaneous interaction within the gallery, Moore let his installation grow step by step, literally and figuratively.

Natural and artificial light against raised forms determine continuously changing shadows. Visitors walk through a deploy of shapes and volumes which arise from three dimensional surfaces like miniature architecture. One of the exhibition’s five chapters comprises a series of monochrome cut-paper mosaics made in 2014 which explore the value of colours’ absence. Displayed alongside the greyscale installation, more elaborate colourful works made in situ before the exhibition’s opening manipulate a palette of primary and secondary hues.

Matt W. Moore’s exhibition SHADOVVS runs until 5th September 2015.
