The Upper East Side is home to some of New York City‘s most prestigious flagship stores, and as top locations are few, there’s a regular shuffle of boutique locations in the neighbourhood. With three standalone stores, Italian luxury Marni is well-represented in the city, and obviously, it has an outpost exclusively dedicated to womenswear in this part of town. As of late, the store relocated to an even more prestigious spot around the corner on bustling Madison Avenue, and occupies 308 sqm. (3,315 sq.ft.) spread across the lower two floors of a town house built in 1910. Upon entering the premises, shoppers find themselves in an atrium covered with resin panels that precedes the first room dedicated entirely to bags and pouches. The merchandise is displayed on elongated concrete and wall-suspended polyhedra covered with polished steel, a cabinet and a marble display.
Right next door, behind a shiny brass portal, the apparel collection is presented on the brand’s iconic undulating steel rails. The retail space upstairs is divided into three rooms where the geometric play of contrasting colours and forms obviously continues. Furnishings comprise of velvet green armchairs, displays in contrasting pink hue, and brass tables. The adjacent room features circular walls with recessed sections that showcase more of Marni‘s bag collection and jewellery pieces, followed by two more intimate rooms where more women’s apparel and shoes are presented. Two additional Marni boutiques are scheduled to open later this in Paris and Rome.
